A net zero building  is a building with a net energy consumption of zero, meaning the energy used by the building is equal to the amount of renewable energy created. Most net zero buildings receive about half of their energy from the “grid” and return the same amount at other times. Net zero buildings are rare, but there are many benefits from striving toward this goal.
